Sanctuary for illegal aliens Sunday, August 27, 2006

Framingham residents should note that the chairman of Framingham's Board of Selectmen is hypocritical.  While the town government refuses to hire illegal aliens to reduce the labor costs for the taxpayers simply because it is against the law to do so, he continues to support Framingham's Welcoming Proclamation and expects the private sector to violate federal immigration laws and hire illegal aliens.  Has anyone ever heard him say a negative word against the day labor market in downtown (temporarily closed due to building renovation) or illegal aliens as residents?

This same chairman may ask the taxpayers to fund a few grandiose town renovation schemes in the works.  Examples are capital overrides for a new or renovated town hall that holds 120 town employees, repaving town streets because the town claims to not have enough money to do their job despite an 80 percent increase in revenues in 11 years, and Framingham's own Big Dig to go under or over the railroad tracks downtown.  If that's not enough, then there's the DPW's water and sewer line reconstruction projects which would require between $100 million and $500 million.

So here we are, trapped in a town that is a sanctuary and a preferred destination for illegal aliens, and the town labor unions will be eager to spend our hard earned money to support themselves and illegals.  Say no to any overrides as long as Framingham maintains this most repugnant, offensive and obnoxious policy.
