Recently, Framingham established a sister city agreement with Governador Valadares, a city of 250,000 in Brazil. Why would we want to establish a sister city agreement with a city that does not even speak english. Does anyone have a sister that does not speak the same language? The city has been built and funded from remittances from its citizens who are illegal aliens in Framingham, MA. according a New York Times article dated November 30, 1990.
Imagine if you will, what downtown Framingham might have become, if those remittances remained in Framingham. This pilfering has been going on for more than twenty years, and it's growing.
The population of Governador Valadares was 250,000 in 1990 and is currently 231,000 in 2005.
It would seem that the economic policies of its past mayors and it's current mayor João Domingos Fassarella have been an abysmal failure. Not to mention the economic polices of the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
