The Spilka/Sannicandro Conundrum

People will always operate in their own self-interest, even when it means they violate the interests of others, or the interests of the community as a whole.

I believe that both Sannicandro and Spilka started their political careers in order to care for family members with serious mental disabilities.  This seems like a noble trait, but never forget that they represent all of us and not just family.

Tom Sannicandro's wife and Karen Spilka were on the board for the South Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens (SMARC) from 2002 through 2006.

Take note that Karen Spilka's father suffered from mental illness as she was growing up.

Karen's Spilka's sister Susie has Down's Syndrone and Karen Spilka herself sits on certain state senate committees including some ethics committee and social service committees.

Then examine Tom Sannicandro's page and take note of the school attended by his number 1 son . See Advocates support of Sannicandro

It seems that SMARC was acquired in 2005 by none else but The Advocates, Inc.

The question I pose is:
When these two vote for things related to disabilities, are they voting for their constituents or their disabled family member?

Wouldn't it be more in our interests to have someone else representing us? I certainly think so.

People will always operate in their own self-interest, even when it means they violate the interests of others, or the interests of the community as a whole.

Statistics are pliable, but facts are stubborn.
