FRAMINGHAM - Aradhana Mudambi will be the new director of multilingual education for the Framingham Public Schools starting July 1, the district announced Monday.

She is currently director of the English for Speakers of Other Languages, Bilingual Education, and World Languages Department at Windham Public Schools in Willimantic, Connecticut. Before that, she was an assistant principal for a middle school in Windham and a bilingual teacher in Texas.

Mudambi is a graduate of Rice University and holds master's degrees from the University of Houston and Harvard University, and earned a doctorate from Harvard University. She is trilingual, able to speak Tamil, Spanish and English.

Mudambi will replace Gen Grieci, a longtime school administrator who is retiring after 31 years in the district. She was one of two finalists; the current assistant director, Jennifer LaBollita, was the other.
