While perusing thru the town bylaws I stumbled upon the gem that is longevity pay. This is just an additional perk apparently given only to about 270 town only employees. In 2004, it's cost to the Framingham taxpayers was about $81,000. This perk, presumably negotiated by a union, has been around longer than most people can remember. If anyone knows of such a perk in the private sector, please notify me.
