Support tax roll-back Thursday, July 15, 2004

Massachusetts has a large surplus of our money.  The surging economy has resulted in state coffers now overflowing with taxpayer dollars.  It is time for the Legislature to honor the vote of the people, return the income tax to the five percent level, and let us decide how the extra money should be spent.

Already numerous special interests are lining up to claim a stake of the excess tax receipts, and numerous state legislators are offering suggestions on how to spend their windfall (our money).  I would encourage voters to support candidates who support the income tax roll-back.

In MetroWest, those candidates include State Senate candidates Jim Coffey and Scott Brown, and State Representative candidates George Field and John Lambert.

The current Legislature is not supporting Gov. Romney in his efforts to limit the growth of State spending.  Tell your representatives now is not the time for a spending spree.  It's time to institute the voter-mandated income tax roll-back.
